South Woolwich Minor Baseball is a co-ed recreational house league that began in 2000. We believe in teaching the fundamentals of baseball (hitting, catching, throwing, running). Last season we had 375 youth enrolled from Woolwich Township (St. Jacobs, Elmira, Bloomingdale, Conestogo, West Montrose, Winterbourne, Breslau, Heidelberg).
T-Ball: An entry-level league to introduce young players to baseball. Players will develop their skills while focusing on the basic fundamentals of throwing, fielding and hitting. Teams sizes are small at about 8-10 players per team. Players all hit from an adjustable batting tee. RIF (reduced injury factor) baseballs are used.
Minor Rookie/Major Rookie: This program is designed to bridge the gap between T-ball and regular baseball. Underhand pitching is introduced and coaches work to further develop the fundamental skills and introductory rules. Fun, friendship, team work and sportsmanship continue to be the focus. New players to the game are still encouraged to start here.
Junior/Senior Ball: It is designed to build on the skills taught in the Rookie program and further develop these skills as the player progresses in age. Pitching is underhand by the opposing team. They provide youth with a fun and encouraging atmosphere where they can enjoy the sport and develop friendships.
Required Equipment: Ball glove. Helmet (optional). Team shirt will be provided.
SWMB asks that all snacks must be "peanut free" in consideration of participants and spectators with peanut allergies. Thank you.
